Memorial Opera House Foundation Presents Back To The Dean Martin Show


Dean Martin Impersonator, Felix J. Deneau Jr. had a sold-out crowd singing along during Memorial Opera House’s presentation of Back to the Dean Martin Show on Saturday night. Benjamin F. Edwards & Co. Director of Investments, Cliff Bryan and his wife Laura, sponsored the night in full. As a result, all proceeds from the night went back to the Memorial Opera House Foundation.

Open public auditions for Theatre Northwest’s ‘A Raisin in the Sun’ set for June 28, 29


Theatre Northwest, the performance company of the Indiana University Northwest Department of Performing Arts, has announced open auditions for the fall production of A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry and directed by guest artist Sydney Chatman.

Open auditions are scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, June 28 and 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, June 29 at Theatre Northwest, located on the second floor of the IU Northwest Arts & Sciences Building. Parking is free Friday through Sunday and is available at the lot off Broadway between 33rd and 34th avenues.

Auditions are open to everyone. IU Northwest students regardless of their academic major are invited to audition as well as actors from the general community. No previous theatre experience is required.

Portage High School Thespians presents Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella

The Portage High School Thespians put on yet another outstanding show as they presented Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella on April 26th, 27th, and 28th. The musical, directed by PHS’ theater teacher, Mahaffa Thompson, included exciting twists and turns and displayed all of the actors’ and actresses’ talents. Vocals were led by Jordan Dollins. The pit orchestra was directed by the school’s music teacher Drew Rhoda, while his wife Annie Rhoda directed choreography.

The Chicago Street Theatre kicked off its 7th annual Shakespeare in the Park community celebration Friday night in Central Park Plaza with a production of Much Ado About Nothing on the stage in the William E. Urschel Pavilion.
