The Portage High School Thespians put on yet another outstanding show as they presented Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella on April 26th, 27th, and 28th. The musical, directed by PHS’ theater teacher, Mahaffa Thompson, included exciting twists and turns and displayed all of the actors’ and actresses’ talents. Vocals were led by Jordan Dollins. The pit orchestra was directed by the school’s music teacher Drew Rhoda, while his wife Annie Rhoda directed choreography.

The 26th annual Northwest Indiana Excellence in Theatre Foundation (NIETF) Gala brought talent from all over the Region together to recognize excellence in theater arts. NIETF, a collection of theatre organizations across Northwest Indiana, focuses on creating a strong community, promoting excellence, and providing entertainment to the Region. The annual gala provides NIETF an opportunity to recognize distinction among the local play and musical performances, direction, and design.

The Chicago Street Theatre kicked off its 7th annual Shakespeare in the Park community celebration Friday night in Central Park Plaza with a production of Much Ado About Nothing on the stage in the William E. Urschel Pavilion. The cooler weather was a welcome break from the blistering heat endured by many over the past few days, so visitors unfolded chairs and blankets to take in the show, grab a bite from the local vendors, and spend quality time in one of Valparaiso's beautiful parks.
